FlashForge Creator 3 review – pros and cons, specifications

Is the FlashForge Creator 3 dual extrusion 3D printer the professional solution for you? Continue reading our opinion about this machine.
Chinese 3D printer manufacturer FlashForge is busy developing new machines. Among them is the Creator 3, a bigger and fancier version of the old Creator Pro. Designed for professionals, the Creator 3 boasts an independent dual-extrusion system (IDEX), a heated and removable print table, and has a built-in HD camera for print monitoring.

FlashForge released the unit along with four other printers at CES in Las Vegas in 2018 and it’s on sale now.

Is it a competitor to the Sigma BCN3D? Better than the CraftBot 3? We haven’t had a chance to try it for ourselves yet, but we’ve studied the specs to see if this machine is worth the money. Read on to learn more about the FlashForge Creator 3.

One of the most interesting aspects of this machine is its independent dual extruder system (IDEX), in which both extruders move independently of each other. This opens up a number of possibilities, including a mirror mode in which two identical prints can be created simultaneously. Dual extrusion is particularly useful for printing complex geometries, as each extruder can use a different material. Printing with soluble backing material is one of the best ways to ensure clean, quality printing.

FULLY ENCLOSED
The Creator 3 is fully enclosed, which is handy for printing more complex materials like ABS and should reduce concerns about warping. The filament reel also has its own enclosed space on the side of the machine to protect it a bit from moisture in the air.

BUILT-IN HD CAMERA.
No need to point the cursor at your machine and make sure everything is running smoothly. The built-in HD camera means you can monitor your prints remotely, which is especially handy if you have multiple printers running at the same time.

FLEXIBLE REMOVABLE PRINT PLATFORM
It’s easy to remove prints from the flexible removable plate.

FILAMENT TESTING
The machine should automatically stop printing when it detects any deviations in the filament feed and help ensure a successful print.

3D OVERVIEW
FlashForge’s cloud-based control system for its 3D printers allows you to upload and store files, so your own online model library is just a few clicks away on the touchscreen.
